Other Info: Younger son of Henry and Sarah Hannah Hindle of "Lynwood" West Bradford. Joined the Royal Air Force in July 1940 and quickly qualified as a pilot and was assigned to operational duties. He became a night fighter pilot flyng one of the new Beaufighter planes. Would have celebrated his 24th birthday next month. He was married on June 2nd 1941 at Whalley Parish Church to Miss Joyce Topping of Sydney Avenue, Whalley. John Hindle was in St Catherine's Church choir, West Bradford. Played for the village cricket and football clubs. A Clitheroe Royal Grammar School Old Boy. Passed exam with distinction to work with Lancashire Associated Collieries. Also mentioned is Hargreaves Colliery Company at Huncoat. Was for a time at Accrington before going to Worsley, Manchester. John was of a bright cheerful disposition and was a very popular young man. The funeral took place at St Catherine's Churchyard, West Bradford the cortege leaving Whalley at 1-45pm. Killed accidently on active service in the south of England.
