Additional info: Served H.M.S Trawler SALTARELLO Royal Navy Patrol Service. Reported as having died as a result of a fatal accident. He had joined the navy three and a half years earlier. Had seen action when the ship he was on was torpedoed and he was in the water for several hours before being rescued. Prior to the Navy he was employed as a painter for Messrs. R. Porter and Sons. He had a keen interest in Scouting. He was one of the first members of the Home Guard. His Father, an ex serviceman, was connected to the Home Guard. Son of Albert Bainbridge and Lewin Crompton (Nee Hibble) married 1920 St Mary Magdalene, Clitheroe. Husband of Margaret Crompton (Nee White) 90 West Street, of Milbrook Devon. Frank Crompton was born 12th May 1921.
