Additional info: Son of William and Ellen (Nee Wallbank) 60 Bawdlands, Clitheroe. Husband of Hilda (Nee Davis). Married 1933 Trinity Methodist. Lived 20 Bawdlands, Clitheroe. Joined 1940. Went ashore 10 days after D Day. We have a copy of an article that appeared in the Clitheroe Advertiser and Times dated Friday April 20th, 1945 stating the following- IN HOSPITAL. News was received on Wednesday by Mrs Pickles 20 Bawlands, Clitheroe that her husband Sergeant Cyril Pickles, was seriously ill in hospital in Western Europe. Sergeant Cyril Pickles who is 31 is serving in an anti tank regiment of the Royal Artillery and he joined the Forces in January 1940. We hope that Mrs Pickles will receive reassuring news of her husband's progress.
