Additional info: Son of Mr and Mrs Thomas Speak, Pendleton Road, Wiswell. Private Stanley Speak died of his wounds sustained in action in France. Stanley joined the Forces in April, 1940.  He saw active service in North Africa and Sicily. He came home in November with his last leave being in February. Befoe joining the Army he was employed as a printer by the Exors. of Messrs. W. M. Pollard, Whalley. A native of the Pendle side village, he was associated with the Wiswell Mission. Mr and Mrs Speak have two other sons, William and Thomas serving in the Royal Engineers.
